Immer mehr verstrickt er sich in ein unentwirrbares Netz aus diffusen Ängsten und realen Bedrohungen, während es in seiner bizarren Nachbarschaft zu makabren Morden kommt. Kafkaesk-morbider Thriller mit effektvoll verwobenen Versatzstücken aus Filmen wie “BladeRunner”, “Matrix” und einer faszinierenden Farb- und Bildästhetik. “Paranoia 1.0” ist ein ebenso fesselnder wie düsterer Science-Fiction-Thriller, der seine Wirkung nicht zuletzt aus einer brillanten Bildgestaltung erzielt. This virus leads you on without even bothering to hide it. What's more, there's no meaningful resolution at the end of it all. As a result, the movie is an indigestible oddity that has a promising concept, a few original ideas (the courier, dirty jokes, microbrews), but as a whole, it doesn't work out. I would bet my life on the fact that the script was based on some amateur sci-fi short story because it would obviously work great on paper. As a movie, however, it's nothing more than an annoying farce.
