Das Leben der typisch amerikanischen Vorstadt-Mama Kristin (Toni Collette) liegt in Trümmern. Als ihr Sohn auszieht, um aufs College zu gehen, ihr Mann sie betrügt und ihr Berufsleben am Scheideweg steht, sehnt sich Kristin nach einer Veränderung. Durch einen unerwarteten Anruf aus Italien erfährt sie, dass ihr Großvater gestorben ist. Kristin reist nach Rom und muss herausfinden, dass ihr Großvater Oberhaupt eines Mafia-Clans war und sie sein Erbe antreten soll. Kristin wehrt sich gegen die Rolle, hat jedoch keine Wahl. I understand that it was supposed to be a farce and I have to admit that I laughed quite a few times here. But I think that here it was necessary for the whole concept to go a little more extreme. A bit brutal. Because when I'm supposed to laugh at the mobsters, it should be extreme humor. But that didn't happen here. Toni Collette was mostly extremely awkward and those script gimmicks could also go to hell.

A laid-back gangster comedy about how an ordinary woman becomes the head of a mafia family from one day to the next. Funny, well acted and swingingly Italian. However, the action is mediocre and it doesn't excel on any level, unfortunately, but it doesn't offend. Pure average.
