An infamous painter looking for inspiration visits the place of his childhood. In the years that have passed, the beautiful river where he used to play has been turned into a sewer. They say that beauty lies in the eye of the beholder. That comes easy as the painter finds a mermaid in the depths of the sewer. He remembers that she visited him when he was a kid and has since haunted his mind. He realizes that the mermaid has a disease, and brings her to his home to care for her. This is where the dream stops and the nightmare begins in the Mermaid in the Manhole. (Verleiher-Text)

The film has an idea that I could like, but it's all just too much for the sake of spectacle... On the other hand, it must be said that the film manages to deliver quite a strong point, which disgusts even more through understanding than by what we saw all along. Guinea Pig: Mermaid in the Manhole will definitely stick in your mind, which some more normal films fail to do. Certainly, the effects deserve to be highlighted; they are incredible. In the series, this one is definitely above average, and ultimately within the genre as well.

Meine Premiere mit dieser Kult-Serie. Auf die Frage, warum ich Idiot, mich für den vierten Teil entschieden habe, dann war es hauptsächlich das verlockende Thema der Meerjungfrau. Mit ekelhaftem Eiter am Körper bleibt sie im Abwasserkanal der Stadt stecken. Der filmische Held versucht ihr zu Hause zu helfen. Die Krankheit breitet sich jedoch schnell aus. Es wird schnell klar, dass keine Salben helfen werden. Eiter fließt nicht nur aus den Wunden, sondern es kommt auch eine große Anzahl von Schlangen und Würmern hervor. Der Höhepunkt ist das Erbrechen der eigenen Eingeweide durch die Patientin. Sehr lecker, was soll ich da noch sagen. Und dann gibt es noch die Ultra-Gore-Schlussszene, in der die perverse japanische Natur einfach nicht mehr geleugnet werden kann. Nichts für schwache Gemüter. Hast Du einen unsensiblen Magen und Du traust Dir dabei das Abendmahl zu essen, dann ist meine Empfehlung auf jeden Fall Spaghetti Bolognese.
