Die abenteuerlustige Biene Barry B. Benson hat gerade das College absolviert. Jetzt will Barry mehr vom Leben, als tagtäglich Honig zu sammeln. Kurzerhand verlässt er seinen in New Yorks Central Park gelegenen Bienenstock. Als er die liebenswürdige Floristin Vanessa kennenlernt, bricht er mit dem größten Tabu des Bienenvolks und spricht mit ihr. Mit der Hilfe seiner neuen Freundin zieht Barry vor den Obersten Gerichtshof, damit Menschen die emsigen Bienen nicht weiter ihres Honigs berauben. (ORF)

Ein durchschnittlicher Zeichentrickfilm mit einigen sehr guten Witzen (Larry King, Sting…), einer tollen Szene des ersten "Ausflugs" aus dem Bienenstock (die wirklich super ist) und… Und das ist eigentlich schon alles. Die visuelle Seite fand ich nicht besonders beeindruckend. Und abgesehen von der Feststellung, dass Bienen Top-Gun-mäßige Piloten sind, fehlen dem Film auch richtige Ideen. Der Gerichtsplot war meiner Meinung nach… Hmmm… Peinlich. Also wie gesagt – es ist ein durchschnittlicher Film.

The animation is unfortunately not great, but otherwise a nice story about the life of bees. The humor wasn't particularly sophisticated either, but it was kind of light and breezy. So I'll call it "kind of a slightly above average movie break". It's something between 3 and 4. I'm giving it a 3 because the competition is stiff.

My girlfriend and I indeed enjoyed it at the movie theater; we laughed and something stuck in our minds. But when I was about to watch the film for the second time, I somehow wondered why I would want to do that. Yeah, it's still evident that it's well thought out, especially the bee world, and besides, there are good jokes, and it tries to convey a message. It’s still pleasant.
