Hongkong in den 90ern, kurz vor der Rückgabe an China: Inspektor Jun Ma kennt keine Gnade mit Gesetzlosen und nimmt das Gesetz gern selbst in die Hand. Zwar bringt ihm seine ungehobelte Kick-Ass-Attitude eine Disziplinarstrafe nach der anderen ein, aber auch reihenweise Gauner in den Knast. Eine vietnamesische Drogenbande, der Ma schon länger verbissen auf den Fersen ist und in deren Reihen Mas Partner Wilson als Maulwurf undercover ermittelt, soll endlich zur Strecke gebracht werden. Doch gerade als die Cops zuschlagen wollen, fliegt Wilsons Deckung auf und die mächtig wütenden Gangsterbosse hetzen der Polizei ihren ultrabrutalen Cleaner Tiger als Revanche auf den Hals. Excellent action film! It's a shame about the first half where nothing really interesting happens, but the second half makes up for it perfectly! The last 40 minutes are a non-stop action inferno where Donnie Yen performs perhaps the best choreography of his life. I watched with my mouth open, the punches Donnie dealt hurt me after a while. The final fight with the main rival lasted maybe 10 minutes and it changed three different locations. Well just a great ride with a very catchy soundtrack! 75%

A stiff crime drama in which nothing happens for sixty minutes (apart from a very fleeting hint of the "Woo" motif of friendship) and then the last twenty minutes is all about the fights. It’s a decent watch, but the monotony made me yawn. Even Frank Martin had more entertaining choreography.
