Geologe Trevor Anderson geht in seinen Theorien über einen Zugang zum Mittelpunkt der Erde völlig auf. Mit dem Tagebuch seines verschollenen Bruders, begleitet von seinem Neffen Sean, macht er sich auf den Weg nach Island. Dort soll Bergführerin Hannah den beiden den Weg weisen. Ein plötzliches Gewitter zwingt sie, in einer Höhle Zuflucht zu suchen. Nach einem Fehltritt fallen sie kilometertief, bis ins Zentrum der Erde, wo sie eine fantastische Welt erwartet. Bald jedoch geht es ums blanke Überleben. (ORF)

A fun silly romp for the whole family that could easily have been 4* in IMAX. And something else I noticed, Brendan Fraser isn't very convincing as a scientist. ;-)

A nice, action-packed family film, where the roles for each character were chosen quite well. That translated into it being quite enjoyable entertainment, the kind of film you can sit through without paying too much attention and still have a good time. Occasionally, you might laugh at something, and occasionally you might hold your breath, but once it's over, you'll quickly forget about it. A nice little film that won't offend.

Brendan, Brendan... Another screwup. You'd think Jules Verne would never turn over in his grave more than after the latest adaptation of “Around the World in 80 Days”. This is just too much.
