I first saw the poster for Victor a few years ago at a cinema in Paris, right on the Champs-Élysées. Fast forward, and suddenly it’s streaming on HBO, so I had to give it a shot. At first, I was pleasantly surprised—Pierre Richard clearly enjoyed playing Victor, and the concept seemed promising. But about 20 minutes in, the film starts to lose steam, slipping from decent to just average, and eventually, below that. Despite its initial charm, Victor struggles to stay engaging. Apart from Pierre Richard, the rest of the characters are pretty flat and forgettable.
