In der italienischen Stadt Verona besteht bereits seit Jahrzehnten eine Fehde zwischen den Montagues und den Capulets. Bei einem Ball lernen sich ausgerechnet die beiden jüngsten Mitglieder der verfeindeten Familien kennen und lieben. Doch als Romeo Julias Cousin Tybalt bei einem Duell umbringt, wird er gezwungen, Verona zu verlassen. Währenddessen läuft Julia die Zeit davon - sie soll von ihren Eltern an einen Grafen vermählt werden. (ATV2)

To film a classic play just for the sake of filming it again in 2013 is quite sad. Occasionally, there's an actor who was interestingly chosen, but the direction is completely superficial and half-hearted. It's as if the creators said to themselves, "This is a classic, it will film itself." Hailee didn't appeal to me at all in this, and Romeo isn't an interesting character either. This movie doesn't give us anything extra. I'd rather see it in the theater than in this form, without any impact on the audience and without emotions.
