Doo-heon, einst ein legendärer Gangster, möchte ein ruhiges, normales Leben mit seinem eigenen Restaurant. Se-bin, engagiert um ihn zu überwachen, spricht ihn während eines Kochkurses an. Doo-heon, seine Vergangenheit verbergend, und Se-bin, ihre Identität verschweigend, kommen einander näher. Eines Tages stirbt der Mafiaboss. Offensichtlich schätzte er Doo-heon, denn er ernannte ihn zu seinem Nachfolger, obwohl er sich schon in „Rente" befand. Das Kartell bricht im inneren Konflikt auseinander. Se-bin, früher Schießchampion, erhält den Auftrag, Doo-heon auszuschalten. Gerade als sie dabei ist sich zu weigern, erfährt sie dass Eun-jeong, dem sie sehr nahe stand, bereits versucht hatte Doo-heon zu töten und dabei selbst ums Leben kam. Se-bin schwört Rache und wartet auf den perfekten, tödlichen Moment. Bald merkt sie allerdings, dass ihre Gefühle zu Doo-heon sie am Drücken des Abzugs hindern. Sie erfährt auch, dass Doo-heon nichts mit dem Tod ihres Freundes zu tun hatte. Ein anonymer Auftraggeber übt dennoch Druck auf sie aus, den Auftrag auszuführen. Doo-heon findet heraus wer Se-bin wirklich ist. Weil Doo-heon fest daran glaubt, dass Se-bin ihn nicht töten wird, riskiert er sein Leben, um sie zu schützen. Was ist ihr Schicksal? (Berlinale)

So for me, definitely thumbs up! Kang-ho Song is always a guarantee of a quality and expensive movie, but rarely his movies rely on action, which doesn't matter, the guy entertains me! What's it all about? The protagonist is a former gangster who wants to quit his life of crime and wants to follow his dream and open a restaurant, he enrolls in a cooking class where he instantly falls for the innocent, sweet and young babe who is a top shooter assassin having the sole task of disarming a target. What looks like romance at first turns into a fight for his life. The atmosphere of the film is awesome, the visuals are breathtaking, the cinematography is as great as can be, the action is fast-paced, but it's properly hard-hitting and has pizzazz, and the hotel scene is the absolute highlight of the film. 80%

The excellent cast is unfortunately undermined by the script. After a confusing beginning comes a rather dull middle and only the end can save it. Nor did the relationship of the main couple really fire me up, apart from that beautiful final scene. That was very good and original. I liked the music and the atmosphere during the cooking... but an above-average film simply looks different. A weaker 3 stars.
