The main character's name, Hajab, means “the gift from Heaven”. He was born in a poor family of Mongolian nomads, but his talent was so impressive that he soon secured the position of a singer and shepherd in a wealthy family. His songs were inspired by nature, landscape scenery, and national culture, and Hajab soon become one of the most famous Mongolian singers who performed even in front of Mao Zedong.
