While the king’s loyal knight Jean Marais resists temptations and intrigues, thrusting his blade into treacherous villains, the harlequin Bourvil tries to provide a humorous aspect. Nothing against that, but more chuckles come from the choreography of his brave companion’s battles. The most interesting scene is the Spider-Man-like scaling of the castle; otherwise, it’s a costume adventure ideal for a Sunday afternoon and ironing a full basket. Though I could have used a few more sizzling gypsies, I still wouldn’t remember what laundry was in it.
