Kryptozoologe Travis Preston (Scott Adkins) macht sich mit seinen Assistenten Brandon Hua (Nathan Lee) und Katie Langley (Lydia Leonard) auf zu einer Expedition in eine abgelegene Region im chinesischen Hinterland. Angeblich soll dort ein wildes Tier, von dem die Einheimischen glauben, dass es sich um das Ur-Monster „Shocate" handelt, frei herumlaufen. Auch Travis Erzfeind Jim Harker (Dolph Lundgren), ein gnadenloser Trophäenjäger, hat bereits seine Zelte vor Ort aufgeschlagen. Even though I thought I wasn't a fan of Adkins, I have to say that his face has stuck in my head so much that I'm actually looking forward to his movies now. Moreover, a film where Dolph Lundgren also stars is something I wouldn't want to miss. On top of everything, it's about animals that shouldn't exist, and to make it worse, they're animated with terrible digital effects. It's bad, it's cliché upon cliché, but it's such terrible fun that you just go with it. Or you won't even watch it. I had a lot of fun with it, so why not?
