Abel fällt aus allen Wolken, als ihm die schöne Marianne eines Morgens eröffnet, dass er die gemeinsame Wohnung umgehend verlassen muss. Der Grund: Sie ist schwanger – von seinem bestem Freund Paul. Acht Jahre später treffen sich die beiden nach Pauls plötzlichem Tod auf dessen Beerdigung wieder. Noch immer fühlt sich Abel zu Marianne hingezogen und schon bald zieht er bei ihr an alter Stätte wieder ein. Die neue Romantik unter den beiden zieht die Eifersucht zweier Menschen auf sich: Mariannes Sohn Joseph, der seinen verstorbenen Vater nicht durch Abel ersetzt sehen will und Pauls Schwester Eve, die schon seit Langem in Abel verliebt ist und dieser neuen Beziehung nicht tatenlos zusieht. Ein weiterer Leckerbissen aus meinem geliebten Frankreich. Eine nichttraditionelle Beziehungskiste, und Beziehungsfilme auf alle Arten, das konnten und können die Franzosen. Eine tragikomisch aufgebaute und pointierte Geschichte dreier physisch ansehnlicher Leute, wobei ich bei Laetitia Casta die Benennung ihrer Figur mit Marianne als recht grausam und undankbar betrachte, weil sie mir nicht mehr wie in den Zeiten ihres größten Ruhms als französisches Symbol Marianne vorkommt, das ihr einst zu Recht zustand. Doch über Geschmäcker... Jedenfalls ein gutes Filmerlebnis.

Louis Garrel serves the audience a rather banal love story in which he opens several thought-provoking relationship themes. The fundamental problem, however, is that the behavior and reactions of the individual characters in the more tense situations are hardly believable, as is the strangely amicable ending of the whole narrative. This is a pretty quirky relationship drama, but Louis Garrel handles it with finesse. He also stars in the lead role, where his girlfriend, after three years together, suddenly drops a bombshell — she's breaking up with him, she's pregnant with his friend, but hey, can we still be friends? Surprisingly, Louis doesn't seem too fazed by it. Time passes, and a few years later, she shows up at his doorstep again, this time with a child. I couldn't really wrap my head around all the relationship twists and turns, but it was visually appealing and, most importantly, quite short, so I let it slide. Plus, Laetitia and Lily-Rose in the lead female roles were definitely a great choice.

An original and smart relationship drama about infidelity focusing mostly on the three main characters. Laetitia Casta, at 41, is very hot and Lily-Rose Depp, Johnny's daughter, is also good. It's quite blackly humorous, sarcastic and a bit odd, and thankfully very short. A strange film and definitely not typically French. 60%.
