There might be something to Mary if Michael Goi didn’t ruin every potentially effective scene and if the developed atmosphere didn’t have complete stillness. And he had the ambitious Captain Oldman on board, the ability to change the pace, and to obscure the plot with transitions to interrogations, plus a fairly interesting idea with a malevolent entity that once chose the ship as its body. As Seneca once said, there is no favorable wind for a sailor who doesn’t know where to sail.

Mary is an American production with a decent cast and a narrative featuring a pretty interesting mystery. However, it falls down a bit because it is played for effect and is rather superficial. However, if you are fine with that, it is an OK horror movie with some very professional performances, although perhaps not that memorable.
