Can-Can (1960)

Englisch Frank Sinatra and Shirley MacLaine fit together perfectly and they are the ones who carry this film. It's a musical, and unfortunately, there's one problem: the songs here don't work very well. Almost half of them seemed unfinished and not very nice, but on the other hand, it works in terms of dance. In the end, it's moralizing, (but in a good way) fooling around.

Die Poesie des Unendlichen (2015)

Englisch I simply enjoy films like this. Sure, there's not that much mathematics in it in the end, but it doesn't really matter. This is a story that is strong on its own as a story of a person who didn't get as much time as they could have. What would he have achieved if he had more time to continue calculating and proving? Dev and Jeremy were classically great.

Vsadnik bez golovy (1973)

Englisch A Russian, actually Soviet, western set in America? Quite an interesting combination that surprisingly works quite well. I guess I've seen too many westerns to appreciate the film any more than I did. It's good, but it's not great, and it didn't really grab me either. Honestly, it felt a bit too much like theater rather than a real western to me.

Decibely lásky (2016)

Englisch I won't give it a complete thumbs down because I liked the music in it, as I just have a soft spot for Michal David. Otherwise, it's a mess. Thanks to films like these, I'm starting to feel like Czech films are impossible. Not all of them, but here, everything is completely wrong. Primarily, it shows that the creators didn't handle the narrative structure, and throughout the entire film, they don't really say anything about the plot at all.

Pigs (1972)

Englisch Despite certain positives that can be found in depicting the characters' psychology, Daddy's Deadly Darling is still quite drawn-out for what it offers in terms of plot. A simple premise is stretched into something that doesn't suit the film. The film deserves to be shortened, but I would definitely highlight the unpleasant atmosphere and the successful performances, where the characters manage to have a negative impact on you, which was probably the point.

Camille Claudel, 1915 (2013)

Englisch Juliette Binoche is a great actress, but this time even her admirable performance wasn't enough to captivate me more with the film. It's an interesting story, but it's presented more as a glimpse into a madhouse. Maybe I didn't like it because it's too believable. But the film simply didn't captivate me, and I didn't really feel anything.

Česká pivní válka (2014)

Englisch Honestly, I'm not sure if the documentary intrigued me or not, but it's definitely something that helps you understand Czech nature, what beer means to Czechs, or at least to some Czechs, and what they are willing to do for it. Honestly, what I liked the most was that there are people in the country who try it at home and genuinely want to be good at it.

Angèle und Tony (2010)

Englisch A beautiful story about how essentially any man and woman can be attracted to each other, even though at first it seems like they have absolutely nothing in common. This film essentially just shows how beautiful and unpredictable love can be. The characters are so enjoyable that you'll be delighted to take this short journey with them.

Killer Ink - Dein erstes Tattoo wirst Du nie vergessen (2015)

Englisch Anarchy Parlor isn't a great film, but considering what we normally get in terms of slashers and torture porn, this is still bearable, and I definitely prefer it, thanks to some of the characters, much more than Hostel. The film satisfies your need for gore, but it also occasionally pleases with some good scenes that create at least a basic line in an otherwise fairly simple plot.

Český mír (2010)

Englisch A nice example of how we're ideologically diverse, which is good because everyone has the right to their opinion, but it's a bit sad to see people standing by their opinion without even knowing why. But that's also part of it. People have the right to an opinion, even if they don't really know why, but it's probably important to have one. It's up to you what opinion you form.
