A subtle film that hides under an unassuming title, but it turns out to be well-made. It develops a nice story in a small space, showing that sometimes the truth isn't always the best and doesn't need to be told unless necessary. John Wayne is overshadowed in places by Geraldine Page, who was a thoroughly deserved Oscar nominee. The film is based on her character and her believability.

Meh. A dumb story with a bland Wayne, ending with a staggeringly dull (repetitive) sequence with Indians and a caravan of covered wagons that showcases what a terribly unimaginative script Hondo has.
