Biografie

Lucía Puenzo (Buenos Aires, 1976) is a writer and film director. She has published the novels "The Fish Child", "9 Minutes", "La maldición de Jacinta Pichimahuida", "The Lobster´s Fury" and "Wakolda". Her books have been translated to over 15 languages, and her short stories published in several antologies. XXY, her first film, won the Critic´s Week Grand Price in Cannes (2007) and a Goya to Best Foreign Film. Her second film, The Fish Child, opened the Panorama section at the Berlin Festival (2009), won awards in Spain and Tokio and was part of the official selection of Tribeca and La Habana. Her third film, Wakolda (The German doctor) was part of the Official Selection at Cannes Festival (2012). All her films were the Oscar and Goya nominee for Argentina. The prestigious english literary magazine GRANTA selected her as one of the 20 most important young writers of the spanish language.
